    08.07.2026: Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma today attended the 81st Foundation Day Celebration of the People's Education Society at Y B Chavan Auditorium in Mumbai. The Society was founded by the architect of the Indian Constitution Bharat Ratna Dr B R Ambedkar on 8th July 1945. The Governor presented the ‘Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Puraskar 2026’ instituted by the Society to the former Deputy Chairperson of the Legislative Council Dr Neelam Gorhe and industrialist Padmashri Ashok Khade.     07.07.2026: A free health check-up camp and TB awareness campaign for women waste pickers was inaugurated by Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at the Fine Arts Cultural Centre, Chembur, Mumbai. The Camp along with the NAMASTE Scheme was launched as part of the 'TB Mukt Mumbai' campaign, started by Maharashtra Lok Bhavan in association with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), The Governor and film star Jackie Shroff distributed Ayushman Bharat Health Cards and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits to women waste pickers on the occasion.     05.07.2026 : Maharashtra Governor and Chancellor of the state universities Jishnu Dev Varma unveiled the statue of great educationist and social reformer Bharat Ratna Maharshi Dhondo Keshav Karve at the SNDT University Campus in Pune. The statue was unveiled on the occasion of the 111th Foundation Day of the SNDT Women's University founded by Maharshi Karve in 1916. The Governor visited the Maharshi Karve Kutir and the Exhibition of 'Innovation Mahakumbh 2.0'. The Governor presented the Best College, Best Teacher, Best Non-teaching Staff, Best NCC Cadet and Best Alumnus awards and felicitated the winner of the Maharshi Karve Khelratna Award.
