    26.05.2026: Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma launched the 'TB Mukt Mumbai' Campaign to be implemented by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation at Lokmanya Tilak Hospital Sion in Mumbai. The 'TB Mukt Mumbai' campaign, a part of the 'TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was launched by BMC at the instance of Lok Bhavan with focus on the slum areas of Mumbai. The inauguration of the ‘TB Free Mumbai’ campaign, organized on the initiative of Maharashtra Lok Bhavan, was attended by Mayor Ritu Tawde, Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi, MLA Captain Tamil Selvan, MLA Dr. Jyoti Gaikwad, MLA Sunil Shinde, Chairman of the Municipal Corporation’s Public Health Committee Harish Bhandirge, Chairperson of the Education Committee Rajeshree Shirwadkar, Vice Chairman of the Market and Garden Committee Bhaskar Shetty, AMC (Suburbs) Vipin Sharma, Secretary to the Governor Dr. Prashant Narnaware, doctors, ASHA workers and officials of the Municipal Corporation. The Governor released an information booklet ‘TB Mukt Mumbai’ Abhiyan on the occasion. Earlier, the Governor visited the Eknathrao Gaikwad Health Centre in Dharavi, where he interacted with TB officers, doctors, staff members and ASHA workers, and distributed nutrition kits to TB patients. During the programme, the Governor also accepted responsibility for providing nutritional support to 30 tuberculosis patients. In recognition of this gesture, Mayor Ritu Tawde presented the Governor with a 'Nikshay Mitra' certificate.

    20.05.2026: Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma released the book 'Pilgrim of Samarasata', a biography of Padmashri Dada Idate, former Chairman of the National Commission for Denotified, Nomadic and Semi Nomadic Tribes at Lok Bhavan Mumbai. The biography authored in Marathi by Neelima Deshpande has been rendered in English by Ruturaj Patki. RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat has written the preface to the book. The Governor also released two books 'Adhunik Shetiche Model' and 'Aaple Konkan' authored by noted business leader and Managing Director of Pitambari Products Dr. Ravindra Prabhudesai at Lok Bhavan Mumbai. Padmashri Ramesh Patange, Patron of Saptahik Vivek, Padmashri Dada Idate, Dr. Ravindra Prabhudesai, along with members of the Samarasata Manch, Vivek Parivar, the Pitambari family were present.

    18.05.2026: Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma visited an exhibition of woodcraft organised at P L Deshpande Academy in Mumbai by Shankarbaba Papalkar, who has been running a shelter home for mentally challenged and orphan children. The Governor viewed the intricate wooden sculptures and artistic creations made by differently-abled young artists. During the visit, the Governor interacted with the woodcraft artists and appreciated the dedicated social service being carried out by Shankarbaba Papalkar. Shankarbaba Papalkar explained to the Governor the unique features and craftsmanship of the various wooden artworks on display. The Governor was welcomed by Shankarbaba Papalkar and Meenal Jogalekar, Director of the P L Deshpande Academy. Under the guidance of Padma Shri Shankarbaba Papalkar, orphan children from the Late Ambadas Pant Vaidya Destitute Differently-Abled Children’s Home at Wazzar in Amravati district have created a variety of woodcraft artworks using teakwood, bael wood and other varieties of timber. The artworks have been displayed for sale as part of the exhibition. The woodcraft exhibition will remain open to the public till 18 May. Secretary to the Governor Dr. Prashant Narnaware, art gallery curator Varsha Karale and photographer Shirish Karale were also present on the occasion.
