State Lokayukta calls on Governor; presents report for 2025

Maharashtra Lokayukta Justice V. M. Kanade (retd) presented the 53rd Annual Consolidated Report about the performance of Lokayukta and Upa-Lokayukta for the year 2025 to the State Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at Lok Bhavan, Mumbai on Monday (13 July).

According to the information provided by the office of Lokayukta, 8547 fresh complaints were received by the office of Lokayukta during the year under report. Of these 3869 complaints were not treated as proper complaints and were not registered as they were copies of the applications addressed to other authorities or unsigned copies. Thus 4678 fresh complaints were registered by the office in the year 2025. In addition, there were 4287 cases already pending from the previous year for investigation. Out of the total 8965 cases available for disposal during the year 2025, a total of 4885 registered cases were disposed of during the year leaving behind a balance of 4080 cases at the end of the year 2025.

It was stated that the institution had succeeded in redressing the grievances of many complainants during the last 5 decades. According to the statement given by the office of Lokayukta, grievances in more than 82.71% complaints were redressed to the satisfaction of the complainants.
