    18.07.2026: Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma today performed the puja to mark the commencement of the 45th Shri Jagannath Rath Yatra, organized by ISKCON from Bhaktivedanta Swami Mission School, Andheri, Mumbai. The Governor performed the aarti of Lord Jagannath, Baladeva, and Subhadra seated on the specially made chariot and ceremonially swept the route of the Rath Yatra with a broom. Addressing the gathering, the Governor said that the Rath Yatra is a unique and unparalleled experience that is available only in the Sanatan Dharma and Indian culture. He noted that the festival symbolizes Lord Jagannatha's coming out of the temple to meet His devotees. He further observed that while the Jagannath Rath Yatra was once largely confined to Jagannath Puri and a few other places, Srila Prabhupada, the founder of ISKCON, carried this sacred festival to different parts of the world. Maharashtra's Minister of Ports Development Nitesh Rane, Member of Parliament Hema Malini, MLA Amit Satam, Hinduja Group Chairman Prakash Hinduja, President of the Rath Yatra Festival  Dr. Surdas, President of ISKCON Juhu, Brijhari Das,  Vice President Mukunda Madhava, Secretary to the Governor Dr. Prashant Narnaware and a large number of devotees were present.

    16.07.2026 : Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma today visited the historic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya Museum in Mumbai and inspected the rich collection of historic and artistic works of various materials and techniques.  The Governor appreciated the works done by the Museum and sought its help in preserving the dying arts of India. Director General and Secretary Board of Trustees of the Museum Sabyasachi Mukherjee apprised the Governor of the history and evolution of the Museum .  Mukherjeee and other curators showed the Governor the Gallery of India and the Ancient World, the Sculpture Gallery, the Himalayan Art Gallery and the Museum Storage of Miniature Paintings and Textile. Mukherjee told the Governor that the Museum has been playing an important role in creating awareness and sensitivity towards its rich collection among the people and students through its education programmes, mobile museum and other outreach activities.

    16.07.2026 : A delegation of the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) met the Governor of Maharashtra Jishnu Dev Varma  at Lok Bhavan, Mumbai. Kalpen Shukla, Neha Bandyopadhyay, Geeta Prakash, Sabyasachi Dey and Dr Simpy Singh were present. The delegation invited the Governor to the Spic Macay Golden Jubilee (2027) event at IIT Delhi campus and presented him a copy of Sandesh, the official newsletter of SPIC MACAY, and apprised him about the Society’s activities. The delegation also requested support for promoting Indian classical music and cultural heritage among Govt schools, colleges, and universities by organising lectures and demonstrations.
