    08.07.2026: Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma today attended the 81st Foundation Day Celebration of the People's Education Society at Y B Chavan Auditorium in Mumbai. The Society was founded by the architect of the Indian Constitution Bharat Ratna Dr B R Ambedkar on 8th July 1945. The Governor presented the ‘Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Puraskar 2026’ instituted by the Society to the former Deputy Chairperson of the Legislative Council Dr Neelam Gorhe and industrialist Padmashri Ashok Khade. Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment and President of the Society Ramdas Athawale, Bhadant Dr Rahul Bodhi Mahathero, Trustees of the Society MP (RS) Adv Ujwal Nikam, Adv B K Barve, Dr Venkat Swami, Arvind Sontakke, Secretary of PES Dr Wasudeo Gade, Secretary to the Governor Dr Prashant Narnaware, Executive Committee Member of the Society Chandrashekhar Kamble, and recipients of the award were present.

    07.07.2026: A free health check-up camp and TB awareness campaign for women waste pickers was inaugurated by Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at the Fine Arts Cultural Centre, Chembur, Mumbai. The Camp along with the NAMASTE Scheme was launched as part of the 'TB Mukt Mumbai' campaign, started by Maharashtra Lok Bhavan in association with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), The Governor and film star Jackie Shroff distributed Ayushman Bharat Health Cards and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits to women waste pickers on the occasion. Sushila Sable, Vice President of the International Alliance of Waste Pickers, Asha Marathe, Corporator and Chairperson of the Ward Committee; Prajakta Lavangare Verma, Additional Municipal Commissioner, BMC; Dr. Vipin Sharma, Additional Municipal Commissioner, BMC; Jyoti Mhapsekar; Dr. Prashant Narnaware, Secretary to the Governor; Dr. Kiran Dighavkar, Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Solid Waste Management), BMC; and women waste pickers from the Deonar area were present.

    05.07.2026 : Maharashtra Governor and Chancellor of the state universities Jishnu Dev Varma unveiled the statue of great educationist and social reformer Bharat Ratna Maharshi Dhondo Keshav Karve at the SNDT University Campus in Pune. The statue was unveiled on the occasion of the 111th Foundation Day of the SNDT Women's University founded by Maharshi Karve in 1916. The Governor visited the Maharshi Karve Kutir and the Exhibition of 'Innovation Mahakumbh 2.0'. The Governor presented the Best College, Best Teacher, Best Non-teaching Staff, Best NCC Cadet and Best Alumnus awards and felicitated the winner of the Maharshi Karve Khelratna Award. Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol, Minister of Higher and Technical Education Chandrakant Dada Patil, MP (RS) Medha Kulkarni, Vice Chancellor of the University Prof Ujwala Chakradeo, Secretary to the Governor Dr Prashant Narnaware and Registrar of the University Prof Vilas Nandavadekar were present.

    01.07.2026: Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma today presided over the State-Level Agriculture Awards and Felicitation Ceremony for the years 2023 and 2024 in Mumbai on Wednesday (1 July).The Governor presented the prestigious Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh Krishiratna Award, Vasantrao Naik Krishibhushan Award, Jijamata Krishibhushan Award, along with several other State Agriculture Awards. A total of 189 farmers, agricultural institutions and farmer groups were honoured by the Governor for their outstanding contributions to the agriculture sector.As part of the programme, the Governor also symbolically distributed laptops to Assistant Agriculture Officers serving at the field level to strengthen extension services and improve the delivery of agricultural support to farmers. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, Minister for Water Resources Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Minister for Agriculture Dattatray Bharane, Minister for Horticulture Bharat Gogawale, Minister of State for Agriculture Ashish Jaiswal, Minister of State Indranil Naik, Agriculture Secretary Parimal Singh, Agriculture Commissioner Suraj Mandhare and other senior government officials were present.

    01.07.2026: A book titled Climate Change: Ek Chakravyuh authored by former Maharashtra Minister Dr. Deepak Sawant was released today by State Governor Jishnu Dev Varma in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at Lok Bhavan, Mumbai. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sawant said that the book is the result of an extensive study of a wide range of national and international research articles and publications on the subject of global climate change.
