    Governor presents Photographic Society Awards to photographers

    The Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Wednesday (28th Oct) presented the top awards of a national level photo competition at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai. The photo competition was organised by the Photographic and Artists Social Foundation.

    Sanjay Hadkar, Photographer of Times of India was presented the first prize at the hands of the Governor. Rajesh Jadhav of Asian Age / Deccan Chronicle won the second prize and Ashpak Killedar of Kolhapur won the third prize at the competiton. The theme of the photographic competition was ‘rains’.

    Photographers Bhushan Koyande, (PTI /HT Media), Prashant Kharote, Lokmat (Nashik) and Sharad Patil of Kolhapur were presented Consolation prizes by the Governor.

    Congratulating the photographers, the Governor said the job of a photographer is often challenging and risky. He said at times, photographers have to bear blows while doing their duty. He admired the photographers for their courage in taking pictures especially during tough situations. The Governor said photographers are serving the nation by highlighting the problems of the people through their work.

    According to Samadhan Parkar, President of the Foundation, the six prize winning entries were selected from out of 213 entries received from across the country.

    Trustees of the Foundation Deepak Khade, Sandeep Ajgaonkar and Babu Pawar were present.
