    Maharashtra Governor presides over Convocation of MU

    Maharashtra Governor and Chancellor of universities Ramesh Bais presided over the Annual Convocation of the 167- year old University of Mumbai at the Sir Cowasji Jehangir Convocation Hall of the University.

    Minister of Higher and Technical Education Chandrakant Patil, Chairman of UGC Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar, Vice Chancellor of MU Prof. Ravindra Kulkarni, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Ajay Bhamare, Registrar Prof. Baliram Gaikwad were present on the dais.

    Padma awardees from Mumbai, former UP Governor Ram Naik (Padma Bhushan), president of Anjuman E Islam Dr Zahir Kazi (Padmashree) and Rope Mallakhambh coach Uday Deshpande (Padmashri) were present as special invitees.

    Degrees were awarded to 1 lakh 51 thousand 648 graduates at the convocation ceremony. In all 428 graduates from various faculties were awarded Ph. D degrees, while 24 medals were awarded to 21 students who excelled in various examinations.
