24.07.2026: Governor presides over online meeting of officials of Tribal Development Dept. on Cluster Development in Tribal Areas

24.07.2026: Governor Jishnu Dev Varma presided over a meeting of officials of Tribal Development Department on “Cluster Development in Tribal Areas” through video conferencing.
The Governor directed officials to take effective measures to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for tribal communities in the Scheduled Areas so as to curb their migration from native villages. Congratulating the Tribal Development Department for its initiatives, the Governor also urged officials to accord special priority to education and healthcare in the Scheduled Areas.
The Governor further emphasized the need for packaging, branding, and marketing of minor forest produce from tribal areas to enable tribal products to access wider and more competitive markets. Dr. Vijay Waghmare, Secretary, Tribal Development Department, and Dr. Leena Bansod, Commissioner, Tribal Development, made presentations on the subject. Dr. Prashant Narnaware, Secretary to the Governor; Nilesh Sagar, Commissioner, Tribal Research and Training Institute; S. Ramamoorthy, Joint Secretary to the Governor; Additional Tribal Commissioners; Project Officers of the Integrated Tribal Development Projects; and other senior officials attended the meeting online.
