01.05.2026 : Governor’s speech on the occasion of Maharashtra and Gujarat State Foundation Day celebration

01.05.2026 : The Foundation Day of the State of Maharashtra and Gujarat was celebrated in the presence of Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and his wife Sudha Dev Varma at Maharashtra Lok Bhavan. The State Foundation Day was celebrated as part of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative. Padma Awardees from Maharashtra were felicitated by the Governor on this occasion. A cultural programme organised by Amarvani Foundation featured performances by Shantanu Herlekar, Upagna Pandya, and Abhimanyu Herlekar, who presented Marathi and Gujarati folk songs. Padma Bhushan Uday Kotak, Padma Shri Ashok Khade, artist Padma Shri Bhiklya Dhinda, Padma Shri Juzer Wasi, actor R Madhavan, Satyanarayan Nuwal, were felicitated by the Governor. Dr Madan Maharaj Gosavi, entrepreneur Nikhil Merchant, Commissioner Fisheries Prerna Deshbratar, Joint Secretary S Ramamoorthy, and Comptroller of the Governor’s Households Dr Nishikant Deshpande, along with other dignitaries.
