04.02.2025: Governor inaugurates the 64th Maharashtra State Art Exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai

04.02.2025: Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan inaugurated the 64th Maharashtra State Art Exhibition (Artist Category 2024-25) at Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai. The Governor presented the Vasudeo Gaitonde Art Lifetime Achievement Award to senior abstract painter Laxman Shreshtha. The Governor also presented the Senior artist award to Shakuntala Kulkarni. The award was accepted on her behalf by her sister Chitra Palekar. The Governor also presented awards in various categories,such as Drawing & Painting, Sculpture, Applied Art, Printmaking, and Divyang to 15 artists. The Exhibition has been organized by the Directorate of Art, Government of Maharashtra. Additional Chief Secretary, Higher & Technical Education Department B Venugopal Reddy, Officiating Vice Chancellor of Sir J J School of Art, Architecture and Design (Deemed to be University) Prof. Rajnish Kamat, Director of Art Dr. Santosh Kshirsagar and Exhibition Officer Sandeep Dongre were present. The Governor felicitated well known Calligraphy artist Achyut Palav on being declared the Padma Shri award. The Governor also released the Exhibition Catalogue on the occasion.
