    Republic Day Speech to be delivered by Hon. Shri Ramesh Bais, Governor of Maharashtra on the occasion of the 75th Indian Republic Day on Friday, 26th January 2024

    I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Maharashtra on the joyous occasion of the 75th Indian Republic Day.

    I salute the revolutionaries and social reformers of the freedom struggle, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Jotirao Phule, Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, and Bharatratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.

    Maharashtra is committed to development in all sectors. The Hon’ble Prime Minister recently inaugurated the ‘Atal Bihari Vajpayee Shivdi-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu,’ the country’s longest sea bridge at Navi Mumbai. On this occasion, he also inaugurated development projects worth more than 35 thousand crore rupees.

    In the World Economic Conference held in Davos, Maharashtra has signed a record MoU worth more than 3 lakh 53 thousand 675 lakh crores.

    My government has always given priority to the interests of farmers. More than Rs 2100 crore compensation has been paid to 45.35 lakh farmers who were in trouble due to adverse conditions in the Kharif season of 2023. The state government is also providing its subsidy under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, and under the scheme “Namo Shetkari Maha Sanman Nidhi,” eligible farmer families will receive a total of Rs.12,000/- per year.

    The government has announced a subsidy of Rs 5 per liter to the milk-producing farmers to protect the financial interests of the milk-producing farmers.

    The silt in the rivers will be removed for flood prevention. 68 water resources projects were given revised administrative approval. This will create an irrigation capacity of 13.35 lakhs. Jalyukta Shivar Abhiyan 2.0 is being implemented in about 5,700 villages.

    My government launched the ‘Mahaavas Abhiyan’ to accelerate rural housing schemes. 6.31 lakh self-help groups have been formed in the state under the Maharashtra State Rural Development Mission.

    Employment has been provided to 32.50 lakh laborers under ROHYO.

    Under ‘Har Ghar Jal,’ nearly 83.03% of households were provided water supply through household taps.

    A competitive campaign ‘Chief Minister – My School Beautiful School’ has been launched in the schools of the state.

    The new National Education Policy is being effectively implemented in the state. Colleges and universities in the state are at the forefront of the NAAC assessment and grading process. It has been decided to establish a Marathi language university at Riddhpur in Amravati district.

    A Women Tourism Policy namely ‘Aai’ was implemented in the state to promote tourism.

    The work of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial of international standard at Indu Mill is in progress. 200 crores have been sanctioned for development works at Dikshabhumi.

    The implementation of Modi Awas Gharkul Yojana for Other Backward and Special Backward Classes has been approved. 12 thousand crore rupees will be made available for the construction of 10 lakh houses in the next three years.

    It has been approved to open 72 government hostels in 36 districts for students belonging to Other Backward Classes, Exempt Castes, Nomadic Tribes, and Special Backward Classes.

    A plan to develop 250 government tribal Orphan schools as ‘Adarsha Shala’ (ideal schools) in the state has been approved.

    Eligible ration card holders will be distributed ration packages and ‘Anandacha Shidha’ on the occasion of Diwali, Gudhipadwa, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, Shri Ram Pranpratistha Sohala, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti.

    For the economic empowerment of girls, ‘Lek Ladki Yojana’ is being started, and after the girl turns 18 years, she will get 75 thousand rupees through the government.

    On the occasion of Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, senior citizens of 75 years of age have been given free ST travel, while women have been given a 50 percent discount on travel.

    A committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Justice Sandeep Shinde (retd) regarding Maratha reservation. The state government filed a curative petition in the Supreme Court in May 2023. A task force of senior lawyers has been formed to effectively represent the government.

    Phase 2 of the installation of CCTV in Mumbai is underway. Proceedings are underway to procure CCTV and new boats at the vulnerable naval base.

    Maharashtra aims to attract industrial investment of Rs 95 thousand crores. 55 thousand jobs will be created through that. 5 logistics parks are being set up in Mumbai, Nashik, Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Dighi.

    The work of Mumbai Coastal Road is in progress. The work of Hindu Hrudayasramat Balasaheb Thackeray Memorial is going on at war level.

    Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has been implemented in 409 cities in the state. A Special Company has been set up for the integrated development of Dharavi.

    My government has taken up the capacity-building project (Missing Link) on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Works on Greenfield Konkan Expressway, Virar to Alibaug Multi-Purpose Corridor Project, Preservation and Conservation of Ancient Temples are also in progress.

    More than 180 crore 45 lakh rupees have been helped to the needy citizens through the Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Cell. Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana has been implemented for Marathi speakers in border villages. Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Apla Dawakhana has been established in 700 places in the state.

    My government has planned a policy to start a government medical college in every district of the state.

    A Bamboo cluster has been created under the Maharashtra Bamboo Development Board.

    The creation of posts of Judicial Officers in District and Subordinate Courts as well as the creation of posts for Special Fast Track Courts has been approved.

    A grand function was organized at Raigad to mark the 350th year of Shiva Rajabhishek Din.

    More than 2 crore beneficiaries benefited in the ‘Shasan Aplya Dari’ campaign.

    My government, considering all elements of society, is committed to building an inclusive, progressive, pioneering, and developed Maharashtra.

    In the regime of Amrit Mahotsav, I appeal to resolve to build a new and strong Maharashtra and wish everyone a Happy Republic Day.
