Governor Koshyari witnesses musical play on evolution of Marathi language
Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari witnessed the Marathi musical play ‘Madhurav : Boroo Te Blog’ at Raj Bhavan Mumbai on Tue (24). The musical play narrates the story of the evolution of the Marathi language during the last 2000 years using song, dance and book reading.
Complimenting the cast and crew of the musical play on the history of Marathi language, the Governor said the play creates a feeling of pride about mother tongue. Lampooning the trend of teaching the English language to children ‘right from their birth’, the Governor said children will learn different languages once they learn their own mother tongue. The Governor said in his capacity as Chancellor of Universities, he encouraged public universities to conduct the proceedings of Convocations in Marathi. The Governor announced a reward of Rs.5 lakh to the musical play on the occasion. The musical play has been produced by theatre personalities Madhura Velankar, Abhijit Satam and Dr Samira Gujar.
Theatre and film personalities Shivaji Satam, Pradeep Velankar, Rajani Velankar and people associated with art, theatre and literature were among those present. The Governor felicitated the artists on the occasion.
