    Maharashtra Governor inaugurates Fire Service Week on 80th anniversary of Dock Explosion

    Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais inaugurated the State level Fire Service Week on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Dock Explosion, commemorated as National Fire Service Day at Raj Bhavan Mumbai on Sun (14 April).

    The Governor presented the President’s Fire Service Medals to four officers and firefighters of Mumbai Fire Brigade who have been declared the medals. The Governor also inaugurated the Fund Collection drive for the Maharashtra Fire Service Welfare Fund.

    Director of Maharashtra Fire Services Santosh Warick. Chief Fire Officer of Mumbai Fire Brigade Ravindra Ambulgekar, senior fire officers of State Fire Services, Heads of various Fire Service establishments in Mumbai and various other cities.

    Sampat Bapurao Karade, Divisional Fire officer, Dattatray Bandu Patil, Leading Fireman, Guruprasad Anil Sawant, Assistant Fireman and Sandeep R Gavali, Driver Operator were presented the medals by the Governor.

    The National Fire Service Day is observed on April 14 to commemorate all the brave firefighters who lost their lives during a ship explosion at the Mumbai dockyard in 1944.
