    Maharashtra Governor felicitations women entrepreneurs on Women’s Day

    Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais presented the ‘International Women’s Day Awards’ to 43 successful women entrepreneurs and winners of Skills competition on the occasion of International Women’s Day at Elphinstone Technical High School in Mumbai on Wed (8 March).

    The felicitation was organised by the Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Department of Government of Maharashtra at Elphinstone Technical High School Mumbai.

    Speaking on the occasion, the Governor sought the active participation of women entrepreneurs in achieving the national goal of becoming a $ 5 trillion economy. In this connection, the Governor complimented the Government of Maharashtra for launching the ‘Maharashtra Innovation and Technological Development Fund’, a venture fund of Rs.200 crore to support women – led startups and deep tech startups. The Governor paid rich tributes to the pioneering women leaders of Maharashtra including leading women parliamentarians and sportswomen.

    Minister of Skills, Tourism and Women and Child Development Mangal Prabhat Lodha expressed the hope that 30 to 40 per cent of the Venture Fund will be reserved for start ups coming from rural areas. The Governor e-launched the Maharashtra Virtual Incubation Centre on the occasion.

    Principal Secretary, Skills, Manisha Verma, Vice Chancellor of Maharashtra State Skills University Dr Apoorva Palkar and CEO of Maharashtra State Innovation Society Dr Ramaswamy N. were present.
