    Governor Koshyari presides over 36th Convocation of Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth

    Confers Honorary D.Sc. on Agri Scientist Charudatta Mayee and Popatrao Pawar

    Maharashtra Governor and Chancellor of state universities Bhagat Singh Koshyari presided over the 36th Annual Convocation of the Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri, Dist Ahmednagar through online mode on Fri (6th Jan).

    Padma Vibhushan Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Chairman, Rajiv Gandhi Science and Technology Commission and Former Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission delivered the convocation address.

    The Governor conferred the degrees of ‘Doctor of Science’ (Honoris Causa) on renowned agricultural scientist and former President of Agricultural Scientist Recruitment Board Dr Charudatta Mayee and Executive President of Hiware Bazar Adarsha Gaon Sankalpa and Prakalpa Samiti Padmashri Popatrao Pawar.

    Speaking on the occasion, the Governor called upon agricultural graduates to promote Organic Farming and study the traditional methods of farming. He said successful experiments in organic farming have been made in Haryana and Gujarat in the recent past, and added that the same can be emulated elsewhere.

    He said a marked shift has come in agriculture since the days of green revolution. He said people are reverting to millet and therefore efforts should be made to promote cultivation of Jowar, Bajra, Nachni and help the farmers increase their incomes.

    Pro Chancellor of the University and Minister of Agriculture Abdul Sattar, Vice Chancellor of the University Dr P. G. Patil, Registrar Pramod Lahale, Members of the Executive and Academic Council, Members of Faculty, invitees and Graduating Students were present. Degrees, Post Graduate Degrees and Ph Ds were conferred upon 6834 students.
