Telangana State Formation Day Celebrated at Maharashtra Lok Bhavan
Telangana State Formation Day was celebrated through a cultural programme at Maharashtra Lok Bhavan, Mumbai, on Wednesday (June 3) in the distinguished presence of the Governor of Maharashtra, Jishnu Dev Varma.
The programme was jointly organized at Lok Bhavan by the Verma Foundation and the Federation of Telugu Associations of Maharashtra (F-TAM). Artists associated with the organizations presented Telangana’s folk songs and traditional dances. The performances included the Telangana state song “Jaya Jaya He Telangana” by Ande Sri and “Vande Shivam Shankaram”.
The Telangana State Anthem was played during the programme, and a video message from the Governor of Telangana, Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla, was screened on the occasion.
In his address, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma said that the colourful performances of Bathukamma, Bonalu and other traditional dance forms beautifully showcased Telangana’s rich cultural heritage. He congratulated the artists of the Verma Foundation and the Federation of Telugu Associations of Maharashtra for their outstanding cultural presentations.
The Governor made special mention of the performance by Natya Shiromani Nadia, stating that her artistry, grace and expressive presentation captivated the audience.
The Telangana State Formation Day programme was organized at Lok Bhavan as part of the Government of India’s Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor observed that every state in India possesses its own unique attire, language, dance traditions and cuisine. He said that this diversity is India’s greatest strength and that the nation is bound together by a common cultural thread, much like flowers woven into a garland. The Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative helps people understand and appreciate the cultures of other states, he added.
The Governor further stated that a Viksit Bharat is not merely an economically prosperous India but also one guided by the philosophy of “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah” (May all be happy). He expressed confidence that a developed India would certainly be realized through the combined efforts of the government and society.
During the programme, the Governor was felicitated by the dignitaries present.
Among those present on the occasion were former Judicial Member of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Justice (Retd.) Madan Gosavi; noted film producer Ram Gopal Varma; President of Verma Foundation P. U. N. Varma; Founder of Marathi-Telugu Manch and President of the Federation of Telugu Associations of Maharashtra, Jagan Babu Ganji; Deputy Secretary to the Governor S. Ramamurthy; Family Manager to the Governor Dr. Nishikant Deshpande; Natya Shiromani Sheikh Nadia from Nellore; and members of various organizations from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
