    Governor reviews the presentation on Gondwana and Nagpur Universities

    Asks Gondwana University to start Foreign Language Programme for Students

    Maharashtra Governor and Chancellor of Universities C.P. Radhakrishnan reviewed a presentation on the Gondwana University Gadchiroli and the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University at Raj Bhavan Mumbai on Friday (14th).

    Vice Chancellor Dr. Prashant Bokare made separate presentations on the two universities.

    Stating that countries like Italy, Germany and Japan are in need of skilled manpower, the Governor asked the vice chancellor to consider offering courses in foreign language to the students.

    Issues such as implementation of the Flagship Programmes of Gondwana University, measures to increase the enrollment of tribal students, the “Baburao Shedmake Earn and Learn” scheme, development of new academic campus, employment generation through the university, establishing cooperation with agricultural university, and documenting the traditional knowledge of tribals were discussed at the meeting.

    Vice Chancellor Prof Bokare also made a presentation on the implementation of the National Educational Policy, job-oriented courses, academic calendar, hostel facilities for students, translation project, student grievance redressal cells, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, ‘Developed India’ initiative, sports competitions, and other related subjects.

    In the second part, the Governor reviewed the presentation on the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University made by Dr Prashant Bokare.

    The Vice Chancellor provided information about the university’s centenary celebrations and gave an overview of its research and development activities.

    The Governor instructed all universities to prepare their Academic Calendars in advance, specifying the examination dates for each semester and faculty. He also directed that the dates for the declaration of results and the convocation ceremony should also be announced ahead of time. He said the Convocation should be held preferrably 30 days after the declaration of the results.

    Pro-Vice Chancellor of RTMNU Dr. Rajendra Kakade, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Gondwana University Dr. Shriram Kawale and Registrar of Gondwana University Dr. Anil Hirekhan were present.
