14.04.2025: Governor inaugurates the State level Fire Service Week

14.04.2025: Maharashtra Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan inaugurated the State level Fire Service Week on the occasion of the National Fire Service Day at Raj Bhavan Mumbai.
The Governor presented the President’s Fire Service Medals for Meritorious Service to eight officers and firefighters of Mumbai Fire Brigade and those from Municipal Fire Services from across the State on the occasion. Chief Fire Officer of Mumbai Fire Brigade Ravindra Ambulgekar, Dy. Chief Fire Officer Deepak Ghosh, Sub Officer Sunil Gaikawad, Leading Fireman Parag Dalvi and Fireman Tatu Parab from Mumbai Fire Brigade, Karim Khan Pathan, Fire Engine Driver of Pune Municipal Corporation, Kasappa Mane, Fireman from Sangli – Miraj – Kupwad City Muncipal Corporation and Narsinha Patel, Ambulance Attendant (Fire) from Pune Municipal Corporation were presented the Medals for Meritorious Fire Service by the Governor. The Governor also inaugurated the Fund Collection drive for the Maharashtra Fire Service Welfare Fund and appealed to the people to contribute generously to the Fund. The Fire Service Week, observed from April 14 to April 20, 2025, carries the theme: “Unite to Ignite: A Fire-Safe India”. The National Fire Service Day is observed on April 14 to commemorate all the brave firefighters who lost their lives during a ship explosion at the Bombay Dockyard in the year 1944.
