    ‘Stopping wastage of food grain can help double income of farmers’: Governor

    Stating that almost one-third of food grains is wasted or lost in our country due to a variety of reasons, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has called for creating a chain of cold Storages across the county to stop the wastage of food grains.

    He said creating a network of cold chain storages can help in doubling the income of farmers.

    Governor Koshyari especially asked all stakeholders in the cold chain sector to consult farmers from different regions to understand their needs and provide them suitable region-specific cold storage solutions.

    The Governor was speaking at the inauguration of a National Conference on ‘Cold Chain Technologies’ organised by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) in Mumbai on Friday, (11th Oct)

    Mentioning that India is on the right path of becoming a 5 trillion dollar economy, the Governor asked ASSOCHAM to keep the poor farmers and farm labours at the centre of their planning and consideration.

    Secretary, Water Conservation Eknath Dawale, Senior Vice President of ASSOCHAM Niranjan Hiranandani, Vice President of Transport Corporation of India Cold Chain Solution Amitabh Mukherjee, Dr. S K Goel, Lalit Gandhi, Deepak Sood and others were present.
