Programmes of Governor of Maharashtra on Independence Day

The Governor of Maharashtra CH. Vidyasagar Rao will hoist the National Flag on the occasion of the 72nd Anniversary of Independence Day at Council Hall in Pune at 0905 hrs on Thursday 15th August 2019.

The Governor has conveyed his greetings and good wishes to the people on the occasion of Independence Day.

No Independence Day Reception this year.

The Governor has however cancelled the Independence Day Reception proposed to be held at Raj Bhavan in Pune in the evening of 15th August in the backdrop of floods in some districts of the State.

The Governor traditionally hosts the Independence Day Reception, referred as ‘At Home’ Reception, on the evening of Independence Day at the Raj Bhavan in Pune.

Freedom fighters, Padma Awardees, eminent personalities from various walks of life, officers of the Armed Forces, Police and Civil Services and senior journalists are invited to the Reception. This year, however, the Governor has cancelled the reception.
