    Governor appoints Prof. V R Sastry as new Vice Chancellor of Technological University (BATU)

    The Governor of Maharashtra and Chancellor of Universities in the State CH. Vidyasagar Rao today appointed Prof (Dr) Vedala Rama Sastry, Professor, Department of Mining Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Suratkal, Karnataka as the new Vice Chancellor of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological Univeristy (BATU), Lonere.

    Dr Sastry succeeds the government-nominated Vice Chancellor Dr Vilas Gaikar whose term ended on 1st March 2019. Vice Chancellor of University of Mumbai Dr Suhas Pednekar was holding additional charge of the post of Vice Chancellor, BATU

    The Governor had constituted a Search Committee under the chairmanship of Dr Anil Kakodkar, Chairman of the Rajiv Gandhi Science and Technology Commission to recommend to him a panel of names suitable for appointment of Vice Chancellor of the University (BATU). Prof Devang Khakhar, Director, IIT, Bombay and Bhushan Gagrani, Principal Secretary to the Government were other members of the Committee.
