    Maharashtra Raj Bhavan celebrates Goa & Telangana State Foundation Day

    Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan today called upon the people to preserve the unity of various states in India to remain strong and face competition from the world. Stating that many European nations came together to form the European Union as unity gives them advantage. He urged the people to respect the diversity and stay united to emerge as Viksit Bharat by 2047.

    The Governor was speaking at the celebration of the State Foundation Day of Goa and Telangana jointly organised by Maharashtra Raj Bhavan in Mumbai on Fri (30 May).

    The Governor complimented the students of the Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University for beautifully presenting the folk dance Dhalo and Diwali folk dances from Goa on the occasion. The Governor also applauded the Kuchipudi dancer Nadiya for her presentation of Natraj Natyahela.

    The State Foundation Days were celebrated as part of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative of Government of India.

    The Goa State Foundation Day was organised by Maharashtra Raj Bhavan in association with the Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University (SRTMU) Nanded, while the Telangana State Foundation was organised in collaboration with the Mumbai Andhra Mahasabha and Gymkhana.

    Women of Telangana origin living in Mumbai presented the Bathukamma dance on the occasion.

    Audio-visual films showing the history and heritage of the two States were also shown.

    Vice Chancellor of SRTMU Dr. Manohar Chaskar, Pro VC Dr Ashok Mahajan, President of the Mumbai Andhra Mahasabha and Gymkhana M. Konda Reddy, General Secretary Yapuram Vekateshwar, Deputy Secretary to the Governor S Ramamoorthy, Members of Management Council of the University and people of Telangana origin living in Mumbai were present.

    Secretary to the Governor Dr. Prashant Narnaware delivered the welcome address while Section Officer Jayesh Thakur proposed the vote of thanks.
