    Governor’s hails Marawari community for continuing the spirit of philanthropy

    Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari today hailed the Marawari community for carrying forward its age-old legacy of philanthropy by helping people during the ongaoing Corona pandemic period.

    “Marwaris have an age old tradition of philanthropy. They have been donating part of their earnings for social work for centuries. History informs that Bhama Shah had provided his entire earnings to Maharana Pratap during the latter’s conquests. This tradition of philanthropy has been continued by the Marwaris till date,” he said.

    The Governor was speaking at the felicitation of Corona Warriors organized by the International Marawari Federation at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai on Sunday (29th Nov).

    Summan Agrwal, President of the Federation and well known poet and actor Shailesh Lodha were present.

    The Governor said, the Marwaris have settlted in all parts of the country from Calcutta, Mumbai, Chennai and in remotest places including his home town of Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand. He said wherever they have gone, the Marwaris have won the hearts of the people with their good conduct.

    The Governor presented Corona Warrior Certificates to the Chairman of the Parmarth Seva Samiti Laxminarayan Biyani, Inspector General of Police Kaiser Khalid, Gastroenterologist Dr B L Chitlangia and Nilesh Chaudhary of Dharamraj Foundation.

    The Governor also felicitated Shivkant Khetan, Anup Gupta, Surendra Ruia and Ashwani Gupta of Akhil Bhratiya Agrawal Sammelan, Rotary District Governor Dr Rajendra Agrawal, Ramesh Goenka of Agroha Vikas Trust, Chandraprakash Kumawat of Anangaon Gaushala, Nidhi Garg of Agra Nari Foundation, Sunny Agrawal of Rajasthani Samaj, Malad, Anita Agrawal of Rotary Club, Sunil Siraslewala, Bharat Jhunjhunwala, Arun Bharagav, Pranav Rungta, Kainaat Arora, Vinod Bansal of Agroha Vikas Trust and Dr Uttam Jain of Hindustan Merchants’ Chamber on the occasion.
