    Governor presides over 37th Convocation of Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University

    Honorary D. Litt. conferred on Shankar Baba Papalkar for lifetime work for Divyang children

    The Governor of Maharashtra and Chancellor of Universities Bhagat Singh Koshyari presided over the 37th Convocation of the Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, Amravati through online mode from Raj Bhavan Mumbai on Saturday (29th May).

    Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways and Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Nitin Gadkari delivered the Convocation address. Maharashtra’s Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant, Vice Chancellor Dr. Murlidhar Chandekar, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajesh Jaipurkar and students were present.

    Honorary degree of Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) was conferred upon well-known social worker Shankar Baba Papalkar for his work of providing shelter and care to 123 Orphan and Divyang children through his ‘Late Ambadas Pant Matimand, Muk Badhir, Bevaras Balgriha Ashram’ at village Wazzar in Amravati district. Shankar Baba accompanied by a Divyang child accepted the degree at the hands of Vice Chancellor Dr Murlidhar Chandekar.

    Ph.Ds were awarded to 316 candidates at the Convocation Ceremony. In all 110 Gold Medals were given away, while 22 Silver Medals and as many cash prizes were given at the Convocation.
