Governor presents Tata Mumbai Marathon Philanthropy Awards
Individuals, Organisations raise a record 45 Crore through Marathon 2020
Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari presented the Tata Mumbai Marathon Philanthropy Awards at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai on Tuesday (27th Oct).
The awards were presented to individuals, non governmental organisations and Corporate fundraisers who raised maximum funds for various social causes and non governmtal organisations through the platform of Tata Mumbai Marathon.
A record Rs 45.90 Crore – highest so far – funds were raised by 295 non governmental organisations using the platform of Tata Mumbai Marathon held in January 2020.
‘A National Marathon’: Governor
Recalling the morning of 19th January 2020 when he flagged off the Tata Mumbai Marathon, Governor Koshyari said the Tata Mumbai Marathon with this year’s participation of 55000 people, has truly become a National Marathon.
Congratulating the individuals, NGOs and Corporate organisations for raising awareness about various social causes through the Marathon, the Governor expressed the hope that the Corporates will also contribute generoulsy to the cause of Covid-19 pandemic relief effort.
The late Dhaval Mehta who raised Rs. 2.43 Crore for the Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care – and who lost life in an accident – was honoured posthumously for raising highest amount of funds since its inception in 2004. The memento and certificate was received by his wife Anuja Mehta from the Governor.
V S Parthasarathy, Group CFO of Mahindra and Mahindra Limited who raised Rs.2.25 Crore for the K C Mahindra Education Trust Project ‘Nanhi Kali’, Sadashiv Rao, CEO of NIIF Infrastructure Finance Limited who raised funds for Isha Foundation, KVS Manian, Whole Time Director of Kotak Mahindra Bank who raised funds for Cancer Patients Aid Association and Villy Doctor, Managing Director of Light of Life Trust were honoured at the hands of the Governor.
Bijal Mehta received the award on behalf of the Shrimad Rajchandra Mission, which emerged as the highest fund raising NGO with Rs.7.50 Crore.
The Governor felicitated Change Legends, Change Icons, and Corporate Fund raisers on the occasion.
Jayanti Shukla, CEO United Way Mumbai informed that 295 NGOs raised an amount of Rs 45.90 Crore using the platform of Tata Mumbai Marathon held in January 2020.
Anil Singh, MD, Procam International, Vivek Singh, Joint MD, Procam and Harish Bhatt, Brand Custodian, Tata Group were prominent among those present on the occasion.
