‘Nation needs the Tilak’s Karmayog to realize the goal of ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’: Governor Koshyari
Stating that the Lokmanya Tilak’s commentary on the Bhagwad Gita inspired a whole generation of freedom fighters, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari said that the nation needs the Karmayoga as propounded by Lokmanya Tilak to realize the dream of ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’.
Observing that Bhagwad Gita has spoken about Bhaktiyog, Sanyasa Yoga, Karmayog and Gyan Yoga, the Governor said the nation needs the Karmayoga as elucidated by Lokmanya Tilak in the Gita Rahasya to become self reliant and self sufficient.
The Governor was speaking at a programme organized to commemorate the ‘Gita Jayanti’ at Mysore Association Auditorium in Mumbai on Friday (25th Dec). The Gita Jayanti programme was organized by the Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’ Smriti Nyas as part of the commemoration of the Death Centenray year of Lokmanya Tilak.
Stating that the Bhagwad Gita is as relevant in the present context as it was centuries ago, the Governor said Bhagwad Gita had inspired a legion of world leaders including scientist Albert Einstein, India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam to former Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev and others.
The Governor recalled that while Lokmanya Tilak wrote the treatise ‘Gita Rahasya’ in the Mandalay prison, he had the opportunity to read Tilak’s ‘Gita Rahasya’ while he was also imprisoned at Fatehgarh prison in UP during the Emergency.
The Governor was presented the Hindi edition of ‘Gita Rahasya’ translated by Madhavrao Sapre on the occasion. A play directed by theatre personality Mujib Khan on the life of Lokmanya Tilak was staged after the inauguration function. The Governor announced a donation of Rs 5 lakh to the Ramdhari Singh Dinkar Memorial Trust from his discretionary fund.
President of Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh Dinkar Memorial Trust Neeraj Kumar, senior lawyer R P Singh, former Head of Hindi Department of University of Mumbai Ratan Kumar Pandey, film producer Pankaj Narayan and President of Lokmanya Tilak Swarajya Bhumi Smarak Samiti Prakash Seelam were present.
