UP State Foundation and Daman – Diu UT formation Day celebrated in Maharashtra Raj Bhavan
The State Foundation Day of Uttar Pradesh and the Union Territory Formation Day of Dadra, Nagar Haveli, Diu and Daman was celebrated in presence of Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai on Friday (24 Jan).
Impressed by the cultural presentation made by the students of University of Mumbai and its constituent colleges, the Governor announced rewards of Rs.25000 each to the University and the two Colleges.
The UP State and Union Territory formation day celebrations were organised as part of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative of Government of India.
A cultural programme showcasing the customs and traditions of Uttar Pradesh and the Union Territories of Dadra, Nagar Haveli, Diu and Daman was presented by the students of the Mumbai University. Audio-visual films showing the features of UP and the Union Territories of Daman and Diu were also shown.
The Cultural programme featured the Tarpa Dance, Kathak dance, Charkula dance, Devotional Song and Qawwali. The Shiv Vandana and Thumri in the Kathak dance form were presented by Tejal Chaudhari.
Pro Vice Chancellor of University of Mumbai Prof. Ajay Bhamre, Director of Students Welfare Dr Sunil Patil, Cultural Coordinator Nilesh Sawe and students were present.
Principal Secretary to the Governor Pravin Darade delivered the welcome address while Under Secretary Vikas Kulkarni proposed a vote of thanks.
