    Mumbai, February 23: The Governor of Maharashtra, Acharya Devvrat, paid rich tributes to the late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, stating that his work over more than three decades for the welfare of youth, farmers, and common citizens continues to be strongly felt across all sectors of the State. The Governor particularly mentioned his simple, straightforward, and affectionate nature that endeared him to everyone.

    He noted that the work of the late Ajit Pawar would remain an inspiration for many generations to come and would continue to guide social life in the State.

    At the condolence meeting held at NSCI Dome in Worli, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Legislative Assembly Speaker Adv. Rahul Narwekar, Legislative Council Chairman Prof. Ram Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, former Chief Justice Bhushan Gavai, former Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, industrialists Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani, actors Nana Patekar and Jackie Shroff, along with members of the Cabinet and legislators from both Houses, were present.

    Governor Acharya Devvrat stated that although nature imposes limits on human life, true greatness is determined by the life one lives and the support one provides to the distressed and needy sections of society. Quoting the principle “Kirti Yashasya Jeevati” (fame and virtue live on), he said that the achievements and noble thoughts of great personalities grant them immortality, and their legacy cannot be erased by time or circumstances.

    Ajit Pawar Was Maharashtra’s True ‘Real Star’

    Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar made a significant contribution to the building and development of Maharashtra. The State will never forget the imprint of his work. His contribution to the State’s development journey has been invaluable. He described Ajit Pawar as Maharashtra’s true “real star.”

    Speaking at the condolence meeting, the Chief Minister said that Ajit Pawar was a true people’s leader who possessed in-depth knowledge of every corner of Maharashtra. He embodied all the qualities required of an effective administrator. He not only presented budgets but also instilled financial discipline in the State. While taking decisions in the public interest, he ensured that the State’s financial stability was not disturbed. He came to Cabinet meetings thoroughly prepared on every subject. His strong decision-making ability enabled him to take prompt decisions, and he never went back on his word. He was forthright in his approach.

    He had exceptional administrative skills and the firmness necessary for good governance. Precision and discipline were integral to his personality. He had the courage to firmly reject decisions that were not in the State’s interest. While he maintained strong public connect in political life, he was equally adept at nurturing personal relationships.

    He Never Allowed Maharashtra’s Development to Slow Down
    – Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde

    Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that Ajit Dada never allowed the pace of Maharashtra’s development to slow down and did not compromise on the quality of development works. He would present his views candidly in Cabinet meetings and strongly advocate for fiscal prudence while ensuring development. When allocating funds for projects, he would present complete and well-researched information.

    He also mentioned that while making provisions for the “Ladki Bahin” scheme, Ajit Pawar skillfully balanced the State’s financial position with developmental priorities. His day would begin as early as 6 a.m. with work. There was excellent coordination and mutual understanding among Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Ajit Dada, and the team regarding Maharashtra’s development.

    Union Minister Nitin Gadkari stated that the State has lost a leader with a strong vision for development. He recalled that Ajit Pawar had recently followed up persistently for development projects in Pune, which led to the approval of a three-tier elevated bridge by the Central Government. He did not limit himself to pursuing project approvals but personally visited project sites in New Delhi and Nagpur and reviewed progress to ensure timely completion.

    On the occasion, Sunetra Ajit Pawar, wife of the late Deputy Chief Minister, and their sons Parth and Jay, along with members of the Pawar family, received condolences from a large number of dignitaries from various fields.

    During the condolence meeting, documentaries showcasing the life and political and personal journey of the late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar were screened, and several dignitaries paid their heartfelt tributes.
