Says S.D. & R.D. Burman greatest gifts of Tripura to Maharashtra
The Foundation Day of Manipur, Meghalaya and Tripura was celebrated for the first time in Maharashtra Raj Bhavan in presence of State Governor Ramesh Bais on Sun (21 Jan).
Stating that he has visited all the 8 States of North East, the Governor appealed to the people to visit the North Eastern States to see their beauty and cultural diversity. He said celebration of the State formation day of various States has strengthened the cause of unity and national integration.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said he had the privilege of serving as the Governor of Tripura for 2 years. Describing Sachin Dev Burman as the greatest musician of the century, the Governor said S.D. Burman and his illustrious son R D Burman were the greatest gifts of Tripura to Maharashtra.
A cultural troupe from Tripura presented the folk dances Hojagiri, Lebang Bumani and Tangbiti of Tripura on the occasion. Students of HSNC University presented the folk dances of Manipur and Meghalaya.
The State Foundation Day was organised at Maharashtra Raj Bhavan as part of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative of the Government of India.
Vice Chancellor of HSNC University Dr Hemlata Bagla, Chairman of Amazing Namaste Foundation Atul Kulkarni, invitees from North Eastern States, members of faculty and students of HSNC University were present.
