Justice Bhushan Dharmadhikari sworn in as Chief Justice of Bombay High Court

Justice Bhushan Pradyumna Dharmadhikari was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.

Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari administered the oath of office to Justice Bhushan Dharmadhikari at a brief swearing-in ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai on Friday (20th Mar).

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Devendra Fadnavis, Speaker of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Nana Patole, Minister of Tourism, Protocol and Environment Aaditya Thackeray, family members of Justice Dharmadhikari, judges of the Bombay High Court, Advocate General Ashotosh Kumbhakoni, Director General of Police Subodh Jaiswal and Commissioner of Police Parambir Singh were prominent among those present.

Chief Secretary Ajoy Mehta read out the Notification of Appointment of the Chief Justice issued by the President of India. The ceremony began and concluded with the National Anthem played by the Police Band.

Born on 28th April 1958, Justice Bhushan Dharmadhikari enrolled as an Advocate on 17th October 1980 and practiced in the Bombay High Court in the Civil, Constitutional, Labour and Service matters. He specialized in Labour and Service matters. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court on March 15, 2004 and as Permanent Judge on March 12, 2006. He was appointed as Acting Chief Justice in February after the retirement of Chief Justice Pradeep Nandrajog.
