Governor Koshyari, CM Shinde participate in Kshamapana – Vishwamaitri Diwas Samaroh; praise values of Jainism
Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde participated in the Kshamapana Samaroh and Vishwa Maitri Diwas celebrations organised by Bharat Jain Mahamandal in Mumbai on Sunday (18 Sept). Governor Koshyari and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also participated in the Rath Yatra and Dharmasabha organised by the Shree Mumbai Jain Sangathan at August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Koshyari praised the Jain Saints for preserving the divine thoughts of Indian culture such as forgiveness and compassion. He said in order to forgive someone, one needs to become magnanimous and strong. He appealed to the people to earn money through business and commerce, but also help the poor and the needy with their munificence.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said Jainism attaches utmost importance to respect for every living being and compassion. He said society must learn from the Jain community how to conserve mother nature.
Minister for Tourism, Women and Child Welfare Mangal Prabhat Lodha, National President of Bharat Jain Mahamandal Rakesh Mehta, Jain Acharya Kirtiprabh Surishwarji Maharaj, Sadhvi Somlata, Ramesh Jain, Babulal Bhansali and Sadhus and Sadhvis of all 4 sects of Jainism were present. The Rathyatra and Dharmasabha meeting was attended by Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Jain Saint Gachchadhipati, Naypadmasagar Maharaj and other Jain Tapasvis.
