Tribal Ministers, MLAs meet Governor

A group of tribal MLAs and representatives of tribal social organisations led by Minister of Food and Drug Administration Narhari Zirwal met the Governor of Maharashtra C. P. Radhakrishnan and discussed various issues concerning tribal welfareat Raj Bhavan, Mumbai on Wed (18 Jun).

The meeting discussed recruitment of employees from the Scheduled Tribes in the PESA areas, removing inconsistencies in the recruitment orders, enacting legislation to preventing illegal acquisition of caste certificates, establishment of a Tribal University, construction of hostels for tribal boys and girls in universities campuses at Mumbai and Pune, expediting pending forest rights claims, and holding meetings of the Tribal Advisory Council twice a year.

Minister of Tribal Development Ashok Wooike, MLAs Bhimrao Keram, Rajendra Gavit, Raju Todsam, Aamshya Padvi, Nitin Pawar, were among those present.
