    Maharashtra Governor welcomes students of BMC School on Reopening Day

    Maharashtra Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan participated in the School Reopening Festival for the new academic year at the BMC -run Mumbai Public School at Worli Sea Face, Mumbai on Tue (17 Jun). The Governor interacted with the school children and presented school kits and chocolates to the students. The Governor visited the classrooms and the Astronomy Lab of the School.
    Speaking on the occasion, the Governor urged the BMC to transform its schools into Model Schools and to explore the introduction of foreign languages such as German, Japanese, Mandarin, Italian, and others in its curriculum.

    Commending the BMC for successfully running 1,100 schools that educate 3.5 lakh students, he recommended sending select teachers to Finland to learn from its widely acclaimed education system.

    Applauding the BMC’s efforts in providing school kits and nutritious meals, the Governor also suggested including boiled eggs in the menu for those students whose dietary habits at home include eggs.

    Municipal Commissioner and Administrator of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Bhushan Gagrani, Addl Municipal Commissioner Dr Amit Saini, Secretary to the Governor Dr. Prashant Narnaware, Deputy Secretary to the Governor S. Ramamoorthy, Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Education) Dr. Prachi Jambhekar, Education Officer Rajesh Kankal, teachers, parents, staff, and school children were present.
