The Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari today praised Maharashtra and Gujarat for making a handsome contribution to promoting and popularizing Hindi language. He said these states have ‘perhaps made more contribution to popularizing and promoting Hindi than even Hindi speaking States’.

In this connection, the Governor said leaders like Dayanand Saraswati, Mahatma Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and organizations like the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh have rendered a yeoman’s service to the cause of promoting Hindi language in the country and the world at large.

The Governor was speaking at the launch of a Hindi satirical compilation book ‘Bata Du Kya..’ at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai on Tuesday (15th Dec).

Senior journalist and writer Dr Vageesh Saraswat, editor of the book Dr Pramod Pandey, joint editor Ramkumar, poet Abha Suchak, Subhash Kabra and many other eminent writers and social workers were present.

The Governor said Hindi is not only understood in all corners of India, but is understood in many countries of the world including Suriname, Fiji, Mauritius and others making it truly an international language.

Complimenting the contributing writers of the satirical book, the Governor said a good satire at once makes one laugh and introspect. He said of all people, satires have been made on politicians. He said laughter acts as a tonic of life. The Governor also appealed to the Hindi speaking people in Maharashtra to learn Marathi.

The book Bata Du Kya has been published by R K Publication.
