Governor Koshyari releases Coffee Table Book on Epilepsy free Camps

Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari released the Coffee Table Book ‘A Journey of 100 Camps with NHM’ at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai. The book has been brought out by the Epilepsy Foundation and released on the occasion of International Epilepsy Day.

MP (RS) Praful Patel, MLA Chhagan Bhujbal, Chairman of Epilepsy Foundation Dr Nirmal Surya, Film Director Anil Sharma, invitees and epilepsy patients were present.

Speaking on the occasion the Governor complimented the Foundation for organizing 100 free health check up camps for epilepsy patients across various districts between 2011 and 2023 which benefited more than 34000 patients.

The second Monday of February is celebrated as International Epilepsy Day to create awareness about epilepsy. According to Dr Nirmal Surya, there are 13 million epilepsy patients in India of which 11 lakh are in Maharashtra. According to him 70 – 80 per cent of the epilepsy patients can be cured with proper medical intervention.
