Maharashtra Governor calls upon media persons to highlight positive news
A group of 14 journalists from the States of Odisha and Uttarakhand visiting Maharashtra as part of the Media Tour under the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ met Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais at Raj Bhavan Mumbai on Thu (11 Jan).
During his interaction, Maharashtra Governor Bais called upon media persons to accord highest priority to national interests. He said instead of highlighting stories of crime, the media should bring to the fore positive stories that inspire confidence among readers.
Stating that he had served as Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting in the government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Governor Bais expressed happiness that the print media has guarded its space and credibility in spite of the revolution brought by electronic and digital media.
Media persons thanked the Government of India for organizing their visit to Maharashtra as part of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra. They told the Governor that their visit had enabled them to see and witness the development, progress and cultural heritage of Maharashtra.
They told the Governor that they were impressed to see the National Institute of Virology, INS Shivaji and the Jawaharlal Nehru Port during their visit.
At the instance of the Governor, the media persons from Odisha and Uttarakhand visited the Gallery of Revolutionaries in Raj Bhavan.
The visit of the media persons to Maharashtra was organised by the Press Information Bureau, Government of India.
Additional Director General Smita Vats Sharma, Deputy Director Jaydevi Pujari Swami, Assistant Director Nikita Joshi, Media Officer Sriyanka Chatterjee were present.

SUdeep Kumar Rout (Prameya), Ranjan Pradhan (Pragativadi), Mrunal Kanti Nanda (Kalinga TV), Debanarayan Mahapatra (News 7), Dibya Jyoti Mohanty (Argus News) and Arun Pratap Singh (Garhwal Post) were present.
