    Honorary D.Litt. for Governor Koshyari

    Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari was presented the Honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) at a Special Convocation Ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai on Tuesday (10th Nov).

    The Honorary Degree of D.Litt. was presented to the Governor by the Shri Jagdishprasad Jhabarmal Tibrewala (Shri JJT) University, Jhunujhunu, Rajasthan in recognition of six decades of services in public life by Shri Koshyari.

    Chairperson of the Shri JJT University Dr Vinod Tibrewala presented the Honorary Degree to the Governor alongwith the Citation and memento.

    In his acceptance speech, the Governor said he considers himself as ‘Rajya Sevak’ who has been given an opportunity to serve. He said he didn’t deserve the honorary degree, but accepted the same in deference to the wishes of the trustees of the University.

    Addressing the Special Convocation, the Governor said Indian culture is eternal and ever new. He said the National Education Policy has for the first time laid emphasis on moral values (Sanskar), Sanskriti (Culture) and education in mother tongue (Matru Bhasha). He asked universities to provide value-based education to children to shape the character of students and youth. In this connection, the Governor said teachers should set the example of good moral conduct through their own actions and behavior.

    The Governor said India will reclaim its glory as a great nation, if our development process becomes comprehensive and all inclusive. He appealed to universities to contribute in the nation building endeavor.

    Chairperson of the Shri JJT University Dr Vinod Tibrewala apprised the Convocation about the programmes offered by the University and its future plans.

    The Special Convocation was attended by Trustee of the Rajasthani Seva Sangh Ramakant Tibrewala, Education Director Dr Vanashri Valecha and Deans of faculties of the University.
