    Maharashtra Governor addresses UNEP meet on Reducing Plastic Footprint

    Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma presided over a Consultative Meeting of experts on ‘Reducing Plastic Footprint’ at Hotel Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai on Thursday (9 April). The meeting was organised by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

    The Governor released the publication ‘Work in Progress : Reducing the Plastic Footprint of Products and Packaging’ on the occasion.

    Stating that development without sustainability is no development, the Governor called for collective efforts by the Government, Industry, Corporates and civil society to address the serious challenge of plastic pollution.

    Head of UNEP India Bakalrishna Pisupati, Executive Director of RBI R Kesavan, Chief Executive Officers and Chief Sustainability officers of Coprates and experts from the field were present.
