Dr Prashant Bokare to be new Vice Chancellor of Gondwana University Gadchiroli  

Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari in hiscapacity as Chancellor of State Universities today appointed Dr PrashantShridhar Bokare as the new vice chancellor of the Gondwana University,Gadchiroli. 

Dr Bokare has been serving as theProfessor and Dean of the School of Engineering at O P Jindal University,Raigarh, Chhattisrarh for the last 3 years. Dr Prashant Bokare has been appointed asvice chancellor for a term of 5 years.  The post of the vice chancellor of theGondwana University was lying vacant since the super – annuation of vicechancellor Dr Namdev Kalyankar on 7th September 2020. 

Vice Chancellor of the Kavikulaguru KalidasSanskrit University Prof Shrinivasa Varakhedi was officiating as the vicechancellor. Dr Prashant Bokare  obtained his Degree in Civil Engineering from Sangli. He then completed his MEfrom VRCE Nagpur and took Ph.D from IIT Guwahati. He has extensive experienceof teaching and research. Dr Bokare has served as the Professorand Dean at the BD Engineering College Sewagram, Wardha and further asProfessor and Principal at the RSR Rungta College of Engineering andTechnology. 

The Governor had constituted a SearchCommittee under the chairmanship of Justice Dilip Bhosle, retired chief justiceof Allahabad High Court for the selection of the vice chancellor. Prof HimanshuRai, Director IIM Indore and O P Gupta Principal Secretary, Government ofMaharashtra were members of the Committee. The Governor announced the name of Dr Bokareafter interviewing the candidates recommended by the Committee.
