    Keen to welcome Film and Tele Serial Makers

    Stating that as the economic hub of India, Mumbai has great potential for business in various sectors, Maldives President Dr Mohamed Muizzu said his country will welcome investment in Tourism, Real Estate and Infrastructure. In this connection he said the Vision Document adopted by the two countries will take bilateral relations between India and Maldives to the highest levels.

    President Muizzu was speaking to the Governor of Maharashtra C P Radhakrishnan at the reception hosted by the latter in honour of the Maldivian President at Raj Bhavan Mumbai on Tue (8 Oct). The President was accompanied by his spouse Sajidha Mohamed and a high level official delegation.

    President Muizzu told the Governor of his fruitful meeting with famous bollywood stars in Mumbai. He invited Bollywood directors and producers to Maldives for joint film production. The President said he will also explore the possibility of enabling the shooting of Television serials in the Maldives. He said that the films and teleserials will help promote tourism in Maldives.

    President Muizzu told the Governor that Maldives and India are celebrating the 60 years of their relations next year. He expressed satisfaction over his successful meetings with the President and the Prime Minister of India.

    Welcoming the Maldives President to Maharashtra, Governor Radhakrishnan said the Vision Document adopted in New Delhi is very timely to provide further guidance and framework for deepening of ties. He said the launch of RuPay card in Maldives will help Indians travelling to Maldives and encourage more tourism inflow.

    The Governor said Maldives is a key partner for India in the Indian Ocean Region and a close friend with whom India shares cultural, economic, trade and people to people linkages dating back centuries. He told President Muizzu that Maldives holds a special place in India’s Neighbourhood First policy and SAGAR vision, that is, Security and Growth for All in the Region.

    Expressing happiness that India has now become one of Maldives top trade partners, the Governor told the President that a lot of Indian businesses are very interested to explore cooperation with Maldives.

    The Governor said a large number of Indian doctors, nurses and paramedics working across Maldives are rendering valuable services to the people of Maldives He said Indian teachers working with schools across the islands have made an impact on the education sector and are playing a key role in strengthening the relationship between our two people.

    The Governor told President Muizzu that he will invite Bollywood directors and producers for a meeting and encourage them to do film production in the Maldives.

    The Governor hosted a State Dinner in honour of the visiting President and his Ministerial delegation.

    Minister of Skill Development Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Chief Secretary Sujata Sounik, Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, Commissioner of Police Vivek Phansalkar, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Western Naval Command Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar, Inspector General of Indian Coast Guard Bhisham Sharma were among those who attended the Banquet.
