    Governor Radhakrishnan Pays Tribute to Ahilyadevi Holkar on Her 300th Birth Anniversary

    Ahilyadevi Holkar served the people with fairness and compassion: Maharashtra Governor

    Describing Maharani Ahilyadevi as an exemplary ruler and an able administrator who served the people with fairness, justice and compassion, Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan called for the use of social and digital media to spread awareness about the life and work of Ahilyadevi Holkar among the younger generation.

    The Governor was speaking at the 300th birth anniversary celebration of Ahilyadevi Holkar at an event held at BSE Convention Centre in Mumbai on Sat (8 Mar). The programme was organised by the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Trishatabdi Jayanti Samaroh Samiti, Mumbai.

    “Ahilyadevi Holkar redefined governance, establishing justice for the common man. She was not just a queen — she was a reformer and a warrior who redefined leadership with her strength and devotion to her people, ” said the Governor.

    Governor Radhakrishnan also recalled how Ahilyadevi Holkar rebuilt numerous temples across India and introduced significant tax reforms, ensuring the well-being of her kingdom’s people. He said while Adi Sankaracharya achieved the cultural integration of India by establishing Peethas in four directions of India, Punyashloka Ahilyadevi Holkar reconstructed temples in many places. He said the public utilities created by Ahilyadevi Holkar have stood the test of time.

    The Governor expressed his appreciation to the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Tri Shatabdi Jayanti Samaroh Samiti Mumbai for its efforts in commemorating Rajmata Ahilyadevi Holkar’s legacy. He also inaugurated a dedicated website (ahilyadevi.org) on Rajmata Ahilyadevi Holkar, aimed at preserving and promoting her extraordinary contributions.

    Convenor of the Samiti Dhiraj Borikar said the Samiti has been organizing the programmes and competitions in various colleges in Mumbai. The programme concluded with the singing of Vande Mataram.
