MU, Vijnana Bharati host Seminar on ‘Jamsetji Tata: Unsung Hero of Indian Freedom Struggle
Maharashtra Governor hails the contribution of Jamsetji Tata
Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais presided over a Seminar on ‘Jamsetji Tata : The Unsung Hero of India’s Freedom Struggle’ at the Convocation Hall of University of Mumbai. The Seminar was organised by University of Mumbai and Vijnana Bharati in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India on Mon (7 Aug).
Former Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission Dr Anil Kakodkar, former Director General of CSIR and National President of Vijnana Bharati Dr Shekhar Mande, Vice Chancellor of University of Mumbai Dr Ravindra Kulkarni, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Ajay Bhamre and others were present. Speaking on the occasion, the Governor Bais described Jamsetji Tata as the pioneering protagonist of ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’. He paid rich tributes to Jamsetji Tata for laying the foundation stone of the Tata Group and helping create the Indian Institute of Science. Cautioning about the drastic changes brought by Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning, the Governor called for bringing suitable changes in the education system to sync with the AI regime.
Dr Anil Kakodkar said Jamsetji Tata had the vision and courage to engage in entrepreneurship as distinct from trade. He said Tata’s emphasis on entrepreneurship helped to create an evolved society.
Dr Shekhar Mande said Swami Vivekananda and Jamsetji Tata encouraged the learning of science in the country. He spoke about the work being done by Vijana Bharati to bring to the fore the work of unsung science leaders from the country. Dr Mande read out the message of good wishes sent by Ratan Tata. The Governor released the brochure of ‘Vidyarthi Vidya Manthan’ examination.
