    07.04.2026: Maharashtra Governor attends 99th Foundation Day of FICCI

    07.04.2026 : The Governor of Maharashtra Jishnu Dev Varma presided over the 99th Foundation Day of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and felicitated its past presidents in Mumbai. FICCI started in Mumbai at the instance of Mahatma Gandhi, will be celebrating its Centenary in the year 2027. Minister of Protocol Jaykumar Rawal, President of FICCI Anant Goenka, Sr Vice President Vijay Sankar, Director General Jyoti Vij, Secretary to the Governor Dr Prashant Narnaware and captains of Industry were present.

    Maharashtra Governor attends 99th Foundation Day of FICCI

    The Governor of Maharashtra Jishnu Dev Varma presided over the 99th Foundation Day of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and felicitated its past presidents in Mumbai on Tue (7 April). FICCI started in Mumbai at the instance of Mahatma Gandhi, will be celebrating its Centenary in the year 2027.

    Complimenting FICCI for its services to the nation, the Governor noted that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East has impacted economics of nearly all countries to varying degrees. It has directly or indirectly impacted every single person on the planet. He called upon FICCI to commission comprehensive studies assessing the impact of the conflict on different sectors of the Indian economy. He further asked FICCI to suggest measures to mitigate the suffering of the poor and the marginalised communities. The Governor said FICCI should focus on assessing the impact of the war on MSMEs and the services sector. Stating that as Governor, he is Chancellor of state universities, the Governor urged FICCI to work closely with universities in Maharashtra.
    The Governor felicitated former Presidents of FICCI from the past three decades—Rajiv Bharti Mittal, Harsh Pati Singhania, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Habil Khorakiwala, Harsh Mariwala, Saroj Kumar Poddar, Onkar S Kanwar, A C Muthiah, Rajendra Lodha, Chirayu Amin, Sudhir Jalan, K K Modi, A S Kasliwal, Deepak Banker and A K Rungta—in recognition of their contributions to industry.
