    Dr D T Shirke to be new Vice Chancellor of Shivaji University

    The Governor of Maharashtra and Chancellor of Universities in the State Bhagat Singh Koshyari today appointed Dr Digambar Tukaram Shirke as the new Vice Chancellor of the Shivaji University, Kolhapur.

    Dr Shirke who is serving as the Professor in the Department of Statistics at the Shivaji University has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor for a term of 5 years.

    Dr Shirke succeeds Dr Devanand Shinde whose term as Vice Chancellor ended on 17th June 2020. Dr Nitin Karmalkar, Vice Chancellor of the Savitribai Phule Pune University was holding the additional charge of the post of Vice Chancellor, Shivaji Univerisity.

    The Governor had constituted a Search Committee under the chairmanship of Dr. G Satheesh Reddy, Secretary, Defence R&D and Chairman, Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) to recommend to him a panel of names suitable for appointment of Vice Chancellor of the University.

    Dr Ashwini Kumar Nangia, Director, National Chemical Laboratory, Pune and Shri. Milind Mhaiskar, Principal Secretary Forest Department were other members of the Committee.

    The Governor announced the name of Dr Shirke after personally interviewing all the candidates recommended by the Committee on Monday. (Contact no. 09822508110)
