Maharashtra Governor calls upon NCC, Scouts & Guides, MY Bharat to participate in TB Mukt Bharat Campaign
Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma today presided over a meeting of senior officials from the State Sports Department, Commissionerate of Sports and Youth Services, Maharashtra NCC Directorate, MY Bharat, and Maharashtra State Bharat Scouts and Guides at Lok Bhavan Mumbai and sought their participation in the State’s ‘TB Mukt Bharat’ campaign.
Noting that Maharashtra has 1.21 lakh NCC cadets, 17 lakh Scouts and Guides, and 13.50 lakh volunteers of MY Bharat, he said their participation will ensure success of the TB Mukt Bharat campaign.
The Governor further directed the Sports Department to promote traditional indigenous sports in the State alongside international sports.
The Governor advised the Maharashtra State Bharat Scouts and Guides to organize a National Scout-Guide Camp (Jamboree) in the State. He also suggested designing attractive training programmes to infuse new dynamism into the Scout and Guide movement.
The Additional Director General of Maharashtra NCC Maj Gen Vivek Tyagi said the State NCC has decided to expand its activities and establish training centres in Mumbai, Nagpur, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. He sought the assistance from the Government to provide space for the training centres.
Principal Secretary of School Education and Sports Department Ranjit Singh Deol, Major General Vivek Tyagi of Maharashtra NCC, Commissioner of Sports and Youth Services Sheetal Teli-Ugale, Brig. Arupendu Gupta, Deputy Secretary of Sports Department Sunil Pandhare, State Director of MY Bharat Amit Punde and Secretary of Scouts and Guides Milind Dixit were present at the meeting.
