State Lokayukta meets Governor; Presents report for 2024
Maharashtra Lokayukta Justice V. M. Kanade (retd) accompanied by Upa Lokayukta Sanjay Bhatia presented the 52nd Annual Consolidated Report about the performance of Lokayukta and Upa-Lokayukta for the year 2024 to the State Governor C P Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan Mumbai on Tue (5 Aug).
According to the information provided by the office of Lokayukta, 6925 fresh complaints were received by the office of Lokayukta. Of these 2310 complaints were not treated as proper complaints and were not registered as they were copies of the applications addressed to other authorities or unsigned copies. Thus 4615 fresh complaints were registered by the office in the year 2024. In addition, there were 4818 cases already pending from the previous year for investigation. Out of the total 9433 cases available for disposal during the year 2024, a total of 5146 registered cases were disposed of during the year leaving behind a balance of 4287 cases at the end of the year 2024.
It was stated that the institution had succeeded in redressing the grievances of many complainants during the last 5 decades. According to the statement given by the office of Lokayukta, grievances in more than 75% complaints were redressed to the satisfaction of the complainants.
