State Formation Day of Chhattisgarh, MP and Andhra Pradesh celebrated in Maha Raj Bhavan
The State Formation day of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh was celebrated in Maharashtra Raj Bhavan in the presence of State Governor Ramesh Bais on Wed (1 Nov).
A cultural programme comprising folk songs and dance from Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh was presented to mark the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Ramesh Bais said the States of India formed a beautiful bouquet decorated with flowers of different colours. The Governor said Adi Guru Shankaracharya established four Mathas in different corners of the country with a view to weaving the country in a thread of common culture. He said the idea behind setting up the peethas was to encourage people to travel to different parts of the country and learn more about the region’s customs and traditions.
He said thanks to the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative, Raj Bhavans across the country were celebrating the State Formation Day of 8 States and 5 union territories on a single day of 1st November. He informed that Maharashtra Raj Bhavan had celebrated the State Formation Day of Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab and Tamil Nadu alongwith that of 5 Union Territories earlier in the day on 1 Nov.
The Governor said music and dance transcend the borders of language, caste or religion and touch the core of one’s heart. In this connection he applauded all the performing artists for their excellent presentation.
The Governor felicitated Telugu film star Suman Talwar, Director of Chitrotpala Lok Kala Parishad Chhattisgarh Rakesh Tiwari, M K Reddy of Telugu Kala Samiti and Kuchipudi dancer Nadiya.
The cultural programme comprising of Chhattisgarh Geet, Janwara Geet, Karma Dance, Nacha Geet Dance, Fag Geet was presented by members of the Chitrotpala Lok Kala Parishad, while and artists from Madhya Pradesh presented the Kabir Gayan (Malwa style). The Kuchipudi Dance was performed by Nadiya on behalf of Telugu Kala Samiti.
The programme was organised by Maharashtra Raj Bhavan in association with the South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur, Chitrotpala Lok Kala Parishad Chhattisgarh and Telugu Kala Samiti.
Special Secretary to the Governor Vipin Kumar Saxena, Secretary to the Governor (In Charge) Shweta Singhal, Comptroller of the Governor’s Households Arun Anandkar, artists and invitees from Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh were present.
