    Foundation day of Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab and TN celebrated in Maharashtra Raj Bhavan

    The Foundation Day of the states of Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab and Tamil Nadu was celebrated in Maharashtra Raj Bhavan in presence of Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais on Wed (१ Nov). The Union Territory Formation Day of Andaman and Nicobar, Chandigarh, Delhi, Lakshadweep and Puducherry was also celebrated for the first time at Maharashtra Raj Bhavan.

    The Foundation Day programme was organised as part of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative of Government of India.

    Addressing the gathering, Governor Ramesh Bais said celebration of the foundation days of other states and Union Territories in the Raj Bhavans across the country has created awareness about the culture and traditions of other States, thereby strengthening the cause of unity and national integration.

    The Governor said the foundation of four dharma peethas by Adi Shankaracharya in different corners of the country united the nation from Kashmir to Kanyakumari through the bonds of shared culture.

    The Governor complimented the students of the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and the Smt. Nathibai Damodar Thackersey (SNDT) Women’s University for their excellent presentation of folk songs and folk dance of various states and union territories. All the students were presented with the certificate of participation by the Governor.

    The Governor felicitated music composer Anu Malik, Pro Vice Chancellor of BAMU Prof Shyam Shirsath, Registrar of SNDT Women’s University Vilas Nandavadekar, Director Students Welfare of SNDT Women’s University Nitin Prabhutendulkar and Liaison Officer of BAMU Mustjeeb Khan on the occasion.

    Secretary to the Governor Shweta Singhal delivered the welcome address, while the Comptroller of the Governor’s Households Arun Anandkar proposed the vote of thanks.
