    Maharashtra Governor launches Census 2027 with Self-Enumeration

    The first ever digital Census of India – Census 2027 for the State of Maharashtra was launched by State Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at Lok Bhavan, Mumbai, on 1st May 2026.

    Expressing happiness that the Census exercise for Maharashtra has commenced on Maharashtra State Foundation Day, the Governor appealed to the people of the State to actively participate in this national exercise. He gave the slogan ‘Our Census, Our Development’.

    Spouse of the Governor Smt Sudha Dev Varma, Chief Principal Census Officer of Maharashtra Dr. Nirupama J. Dange, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Western Suburbs) Dr. Vipin Sharma, Secretary to the Governor Dr. Prashant Narnaware, Deputy Registrar General A. N. Rajeev and Deputy Registrar General Yashwant Patil were among those present.
