Governor urges agriculture universities to lead Natural Farming Revolution
Governor of Maharashtra and Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat, urged the state’s agricultural universities to spearhead a Natural Farming Revolution and upgrade indigenous seeds to ensure sustainable yields. Addressing Vice‑Chancellors and senior officials via video conference from Lok Bhavan, Mumbai.
Governor emphasized the need to reduce dependence on costly hybrid seeds and chemical inputs, while promoting native seed research, model farms, and farmer training. He also highlighted the importance of conserving indigenous cattle breeds to strengthen sustainable agriculture and enhance farmer incomes.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary of Agriculture Vikas Chandra Rastogi, Project Director of Pokara Parimal Singh, Vice‑Chancellors of the state’s agricultural and veterinary universities, Secretary to the Governor Secretary Dr. Prashant Narnavare, ATMA Director Sunil Borkar, along with senior officials of the Agriculture Department.
