    Sachin Tendulkar meets Governor to promote ‘Mission Young & Fit India

    Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar today called on Maharashtra Governor CH. Vidyasagar Rao and proposed launching of ‘Mission Young and Fit India’ across universities in the State.

    Stating that India is emerging as the youngest nation in the world, he said every student from school and college should spend at least one hour to play to stay fit and healthy.

    The Governor appreciated the efforts of Sachin Tendulkar to promote the cause of Fit and Healthy India and assured him of his wholehearted support.

    Sachin Tendulkar informed the Governor that he had visited the Savitribai Phule Pune University in May this year to promote the Mission Young and Fit India. He expressed the need to extend the mission to all universities.

    Mentioning that India is a sport loving nation, he said the country should now transform itself into a sports playing nation. Stating that leading athletes have good coaches, he said we need coaches who will have the vision and ability to catch the budding talent in sports.

    Sachin Tendulkar expressed the view that the services of retired sportspersons should be utilized by employing them.

    Additional Chief Secretary Vandana Krishna, Secretary Higher and Technical Education Saurabh Vijay, Vice Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University Dr Nitin Karmalkar, sports journalist Sunandan Lele and others were present.
